My sweet friend and Squam bud, Flora Bowley has just returned from Bali and discovered that before she left, her new book, Brave Intuitive Painting- Let Go, Be Bold, Unfold!: Techniques for Uncovering Your Own Unique Painting Style (Quarry) was going to a second printing after being on the market for under a month.
Flora paints from deep within her own consciousness, and her techniques are meant to inspire you through opening beyond putting paint to canvas from the left-brain. What I loved about taking her e-course was that it caused me to open to my love of movement and the art of painting (sounds funny to write it)-a sweet departure from the production aspect of creating I sometimes get caught up in. Her ways leave no room for expecting results, but are a whole body experience and a very sensual way to relate to the work that you may be yearning to dive into.
I've been reading a lot during Lodge interim on the subject of how women are apt to closing, of shutting down our senses when the process of life leaves us feeling untrusting, blue, low-grade, unloved, or simply just a bit dry. What I have loved about Flora's journey as a painter is that she glows from a deep place. Perhaps it's because she's acting in alignment with her vision for her life, while engaging her senses in a heightened way. You'd have to take her e-course to really get a feel for how she moves as an artist. My observation is that she is wide open to the love and bounty of life all around her. This is the feminine way: to dance, and be radiant, and it plays so nicely against the inner masculine's drive to be satisfied with the work we're doing in the world.
I have a signed copy for one lucky player, so leave a comment to enter. I'll robot-select a name on Wednesday! In the comments, share your thoughts on how you balance the inner masculine and inner feminine, if you feel called. I'd love to hear about your process!
Find out more about Flora at www.braveintuitiveyou.com and read about her recent retreat in Bali here.
Thank you to Flora for being the generous and radiant on-path soul that she is!

The winner of Flora's signed book is Connie, who said, "Thank you for doing this Pixie & Flora. I've allowed my masculine side to dominate in so many ways that I'm now learning to allow the feminine to come through in ways I had repressed (a much needed appearance). Would love to have the book for inspiration to support this process." Connie, send your mailing address to me at soulodgeretreats@gmail.com and I'll get your book out to you!
Thank you all for jumping in here and sharing a bit about balancing inner aspects. I'll be giving away a seat in the upcoming SouLodge Summer Solstice with Mountain Lion session later this week. Blessings!
