I'm going in!
In approximately two hours from now I'll be returning home with an eleven by fourteen piece of plywood and a stack of copies of the boards leading up to my piece, for a local project in which twenty-seven artists are creating a visual narrative collaboration. If that sounds like a lot of numbers, it is! I have no idea what themes will emerge for me when I see the other works, and I'll have all of forty-eight hours ONLY to complete this piece! Hence, the name: The 48 Hour Project, which opens at Surface Gallery on January 8th. I'll share more about the lovely woman who created this project as I find out more about her!
This is a perfect example of the hayride to hell artistic nirvana I eagerly pilot, because the projects always sound like so much fun. I can't bear to say no to things like this! If you have a craaaazy idea for a group art project, you know who to call...the lunatic with a paintbrush in one hand and a baby on her hip. Though I don't often work with the kids on me, I have to confess at picking white paint shpreckles out of Ivy's hair this morning.
What does she appear to be thinking here? (I'm afraid to ask). The lights look like thought bubble dots! Imp!
