All photos are from the lush, hundred-year-old backyard garden of Karen's home.
Plunging with Karen Maezen Miller on Saturday was great fun and full of tools to implement at home when I returned. Most of all, it was a time to rest among women who also needed a rest, and recharge on the simplicity that is Karen's way.
What came up for me again and again is that I run through my days: run through my tasks, run from here to there, run from my children. Attention. Breath. Peace. With yoga and sitting, it was so easy to return to these simple little actions that need no prompting. They are right within us happening reflexively. It takes effort to stop them, not experience them.
Something she said has stuck with me from the moment she said it, her wise words always followed by her infectious, elvish laughter: Peace lives in this moment, and peace never leaves us.
Today, I am peace. Peace is me.
